Man Urges Diwali Bonus for The Employee Who Created ‘Take Flyover’ Feature For Google Maps

Earlier this year, Google Maps introduced a much-awaited feature called ‘Take Flyover’ feature. A man on LinkedIn posted that Google should give a ‘Diwali Bonus’ to the developer of this feature. He wrote, “Google, you better give a Diwali bonus to the person who added the ‘Take Flyover’ pop-up on Google Maps.”

Several people reacted to this post in different ways. One of the users joked, “There should also be one more feature like ‘Niche se le’”, one stated, “or give them a Or atleast give them a soan papdi box 😁”, another said, “I am personally so satisfied with this feature as this saves me atleast 20 mins on single way, daily which is atleast 40 mins daily in Bangalore, Karnataka commute.” One wrote, “That person just saved half of India from missed exits and last-minute U-turns! 🎉👏 Definitely deserves a Diwali bonus and unlimited chai breaks! ☕🚗”

One said, “its really a nice feature, its been many times that everybody confuses when they see this kind of road on the maps, and they need to zoom in manually, now its better that popup appears. very helpful for everybody” while another stated, “Finally they have thisss. The amount of efforts it use to take to calculate whether u need to take flyover ya I need to go niche was so annoying. Biggest problem solved with simple solution”

Some of the users gave suggestions. One user commented, “I am waiting for the time when Google would show in 3D whether to take flyover, underpass or the service road. It would become a game changer for navigation systems.” while another commented, “Google should also add road blockage alerts for the monsoon season – it would save users so much time and hassle.”

Back in July this year, Google introduced Narrow Roads and Flyover features specifically for India. The Flyover feature in Google Maps highlights flyovers along the recommended route, helping users anticipate them in advance and prepare to get onto the flyover smoothly.
