The feud between Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has grown into one of the most discussed and controversial topics in recent years, intertwining Bollywood glamor with dark underworld threats. The ongoing tension traces back to the infamous 1998 blackbuck poaching case, which has left a bitter legacy with the Bishnoi community, a nature-loving sect for whom the blackbuck is sacred. Bishnoi, who is currently in Sabarmati Central Jail, has not only threatened Salman publicly but also reportedly planned attempts on the actor’s life.
While Salman has remained largely silent on the issue, Somy Ali’s recent comments have reignited public interest in the Salman-Bishnoi feud. Somy, a former actress and now a women’s rights activist, recently invited Bishnoi for a Zoom call, adding a surprising twist to the already sensationalized feud. In her latest interview, she criticized Salman harshly, claiming that “Bishnoi is better than him” due to what she alleges were abusive incidents during her relationship with Salman. Somy has also claimed that she endured lasting physical and mental trauma from her relationship with Salman, alleging that her treatment was far worse than that of his other exes, including Sangeeta Bijlani, Aishwarya Rai, and Katrina Kaif.
She told IANS, “The way Salman treated me, he did not treat anyone else. Sangeeta and Katrina were not half as badly abused by him as I was.”
She added, “However he abused Aishwarya very badly. I think he had fractured Aishwarya’s shoulder. But I am not sure what he did to Katrina.” Somy also compared Salman to Lawrence Bishnoi and stated “Considering what Salman did to me, I can say that Bishnoi(Lawrence) is better than him.”
In the original case, Salman was convicted of hunting blackbucks while filming Hum Saath-Saath Hain in Rajasthan. Since then, Bishnoi and his associates have made multiple death threats against the actor, with Bishnoi even stating in previous interviews that “he would kill Salman Khan,” calling the poaching incident a sin against their revered wildlife. The feud escalated when Bishnoi’s gang reportedly attempted to send hitmen to Mumbai, heightening Salman’s security under Mumbai Police surveillance and also recently assassinated politician Baba Siddique.
For now, Salman continues to live under heightened security measures, and the Bishnoi feud has only added another layer to his already controversial persona. Whether this feud will simmer down or lead to further confrontations remains uncertain, but it undeniably casts a long shadow over Bollywood and its complicated relationships with power, law, and fame.
